Dear Friend of HOPE,
Operation HOPE-North County had a very busy summer.
Let’s catch you up with the happenings here!
Families stories of resilience this summer:
We had 6 families successfully transition to permanent housing ~ here’s just a few of the family’s highlights!
- Katie and her child found housing locally in Vista close to school and work.
- Tara and her two children moved to housing in the South San Diego area.
- Joanie and her child were able to relocate back with family in Orange County.
(Due to a family’s privacy, we don’t share real names but we do celebrate their success).
We wish all of these families the best of success on their new chapters!

Shared Impact

The Children at the Shelter and Pantry in August received new Back to School backpacks with supplies made possible with donations from Girlfriends Care, the Noble Family, Archbridge and Friends of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School.

Our dinner meal program continues to nourish our community. Thank you all of the providers who continue to support and uplift this vital program.

In September we had our Tiny Tummies Formula Distribution where we served 185 families and 2 partner agencies. This distribution was made possible from a grant from San Diego County District 5 Supervisor, Jim Desmond.

The Pantry of HOPE received a new cold unit through a grant from Hatch for Hunger and Eli Lilly. Additionally the Pantry is now client choice versus pre-made bag style, to help eliminate food waste and improve service level. The Pantry is open every Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Our Sidewalk Sale was a success – thank you to our volunteers who came out in the early morning. Together we raised $1200!

A big-shout out to our summer interns from the City of Vista Velocity Program – Sadie, Lorenzo, and Michelle – and our college Intern, Hailey, for their contributions this summer.

Thank you to North San Diego County Realtors Association for choosing OHNC as their designated charity. Through their grant and summer fundraiser, the NSDC Realtors were able to secure their grant and a matching grant from the Parker Foundation. From their peer-to-peer and network fundraising, they’ve raised over $14,000 to date!
