The suspect in the City of Vista homicide has been arrested.
On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at approximately 3:15 a.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an injured person in the 1400 block of E. Vista Way in Vista. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male suffering from traumatic injuries. Deputies immediately initiated lifesaving measures and requested emergency medical personnel, who arrived shortly thereafter.
Despite these efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Sheriff’s Homicide Unit detectives assumed responsibility for the investigation.
On the evening of Friday, October 2, 2026, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18‑year‑old Jonathan William Badillo of Vista in connection with the murder. He was taken into custody in the 3800 block of Helix Street in Spring Valley and subsequently booked into the San Diego Central Jail on a charge of murder.
Badillo is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the North County Superior Court.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
This remains an active investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances and motive behind the incident.

Arresto por homicidio – Vista
El sospechoso del homicidio de Vista ha sido arrestado.
El miércoles 30 de septiembre de 2026, aproximadamente a las 3:15 a.m., agentes de la Oficina del Sheriff de Vista respondieron a un informe sobre una persona herida en la cuadra 1400 de E. Vista Way en Vista. A su llegada, los agentes localizaron a un hombre adulto que sufría lesiones traumáticas. Los agentes iniciaron inmediatamente medidas de salvamento y solicitaron personal médico de emergencia, que llegó poco después.
A pesar de estos esfuerzos, el hombre sucumbió a sus heridas y fue declarado fallecido en el lugar.

La noche del viernes 2 de octubre de 2026, la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de San Diego arrestó a Jonathan William Badillo, de 18 años, de Vista, en relación con el asesinato. Fue detenido en la cuadra 3800 de Helix Street en Spring Valley y posteriormente ingresado en la cárcel central de San Diego acusado de asesinato.
Badillo está detenido sin fianza y está programado para ser procesado el miércoles 7 de octubre de 2026 en el Tribunal Superior del Condado Norte.
La Oficina del Forense determinará la causa y la forma de la muerte. La identidad del fallecido queda confidencial a la espera de la confirmación y notificación de los familiares más cercanos.
