As my time in the California State Senate draws to a close, I wanted to share the bills I authored that were signed into law this session. Each one represents a fight I took on for the people of this district, and I am proud to see them across the finish line.
Signed Into Law
SCR 155 — The interchange at State Route 52 and Interstate 805 will now permanently honor fallen San Diego Police Officer Kirk Leland Johnson, who gave his life in the line of duty in 1983.
SCR 168 — May is now officially Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in California. To every rider in District 40 and across California please stay visible and ride safe.
SB 1307 — Prosecutors now have stronger tools to wipe fraudulent and forged documents off the record faster and protect property owners and businesses from the damage they cause. Supported by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.
SB 1256 — Bad faith lawsuits can no longer be used to delay and block housing and land use decisions across California. Communities deserve to move forward without being held hostage by litigation.
SB 1150 — After twelve years of fighting this bill is now law. Hospitals must now clearly notify cancer patients when their diagnosis is being reported to the state. As a cancer survivor this one is personal and it means everything.
Thank you for the privilege of serving you. It has been the honor of my career to represent the people of the 40th Senate District.
Sincerely,
Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones
