CLIMATE ACTION VOLUNTEER EVENT

Dig in and make a difference! Volunteers will help enhance the Discovery Campus by planting native pollinator and low-water-use plants, adding mulch, removing invasive species and caring for our trails and gardens.

DISCOVERY ISLAND RIBBON CUTTING
Saturday, October 17th | 11:30 AM – NOON
Join us immediately following our Annual Members Meeting as the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce helps us officially cut the ribbon on Discovery Island and Piper’s Playhouse!
Piper, a beloved mini pig formerly owned by our past Director of Education, Cierra Felling, is returning to the Discovery Campus as one of our animal ambassadors and this time, she’s here to stay!
Open to the public—everyone is welcome!
KIDS KARAOKE
Wednesday, October 21st | 4:00–6:00 PM
Grab the mic! Our October Member Night Extra features Kids Karaoke; a fun afternoon for our member families at the Discovery Campus.

A VERY WILD EXTENDED NIGHT – FANTASTIC FOXES
Wednesday, October 28 | 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Get into the Halloween spirit with a special visit from Lena, a Russian domesticated red fox from the Judith A. Bassett Canid Education and Conservation Center!
See Lena up close while discovering fascinating facts about fox behavior, biology, domestication and conservation. A frightfully fun and educational experience for all ages!
(presentation will be outside on Aloha Stage; presentation from 5pm – 6pm)

Special October Campus Hours
Saturday Oct. 3: Closed at 2 PM – We’ll also be hosting a large Climate Action Week volunteer event on Campus in partnership with Frontwave Arena and Clean Energy Alliance. Volunteers will help enhance our gardens by planting new pollinator and low-water-use plants, adding mulch and removing invasive species. Volunteers will park across the street, and the Discovery Campus will remain open and fully operational throughout the event.
Saturday Oct. 10: Closed at 2 PM for private event
Saturday Oct. 17: CLOSED for regular Campus visitation. Annual Members Meeting at 10 AM, followed by the public Discovery Island & Piper’s Playhouse Ribbon Cutting at 11:30 AM. Outdoor areas will be accessible to event attendees until 1 PM.
Saturday Oct. 24: Open at 1 PM (closed 9am – 1pm for private event)
Sunday Oct. 25: Closed at Noon for private event


FALL HOURS BEGIN NOVEMBER 4
As the days get shorter, our Wednesday Extended Member Hours will shift to 4:00–5:30 PM beginning November 4, so Members can still enjoy their extra time at the Discovery Campus before sunset. And don’t worry, the wine and local brews will still be waiting!
