Prom is a magical time of year and you can make a difference in a local teen’s life by donating a gently-used formal gown to San Diego County Library (SDCL) during the annual Prom Dress Drive and Gown Giveaway.
Dresses can be dropped off at any San Diego County Library branch between now and April 15. Branches accept gently-used formal gowns that are less than five years old and in good condition. All sizes and styles are needed. The donated dresses will be matched with a local teen, helping make high school formals more affordable.
SDCL will host two all-day events, where teens can pick out dresses and accessories. The first event will take place on April 21 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at SDCL’s Vista branch (700 Eucalyptus Ave). Last year, 200 teens attended the gown giveaways at the two branches.
The Prom Dress Drive and Gown Giveaway events are sponsored by the Princess Project, a non-profit organization devoted to promoting self-confidence and individual beauty by providing free prom dresses to high school girls in need.
Teens who are interested can get more information and sign up for the Prom Dress Drive and Gown Giveaway by contacting either the Vista Library branch at (760) 643-5100, or by visiting www.princessprojectsd.org
