Senate Republican Leader Bates’ Statement on California’s New Governor

SACRAMENTO – Senate Republican Leader Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel)issued the following statement today as the California State Legislature bid farewell to Governor Jerry Brown and welcomed Gavin Newsom as the state’s new governor:
“I congratulate Governor Newsom on his inauguration and wish him well as he governs our large and diverse state.
“California Senate Republicans are committed to working with Governor Newsom to protect essential state services, expand employment and job creating opportunities to all Californians, and ensure that our state is able to pay its financial obligations through a balanced budget.
“Finally, I thank Governor Brown for his long record of public service to California. I wish him and Anne well as they turn to the next chapter of their lives,” said Leader Bates.
Senate Republican Leader Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) represents the 36th Senate District in the California Legislature, which covers South Orange County, North San Diego County, and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
