“Crazy for You” is a smash hit!

“…the combination of some of Broadway’s most enduring songs (written by George and Ira Gershwin), dollops of slapstick (conceived by Ken “Lend Me A Tenor” Ludwig) and some hellacious tap dancing makes “Crazy for You” an audience-pleasing affair.” Union Tribune – READ MORE
“Parsons is a song and dance man like Fred Astaire, Mickey Rooney, Gene Kelly, and Donald O’Connor — rolled into one super talented guy. And like any leading man, he is handsome, charismatic, oozes charm and is graced with impeccable comedic timing.” Village News

Meet Isaac Jackson  Actor by night Attorney by day!

Tell us the highlights of your performance history.
For four years, I was a member of an eight-man a cappella group at UC Berkeley called the UC Men’s Octet. Something I will never forget is singing our rendition of “superCALifragilisticexpialidocious” in Beijing, China in front of an audience of thousands.
Why did you want to be involved in this production?
I’ve always loved performing and I was able to do a few shows when I was younger. It seems, however, since college I’ve been bidin’ my time, waiting for an opportunity to get back into theater. After returning to San Diego I heard about SDMT, then I saw their outstanding production of “Young Frankenstein.” I realized how amazing it would be to get involved in that kind of production. Fortunately, “Crazy for You” auditions were approaching, and it just so happened I had previously studied tap and had experience singing the barbershop-style tunes that would be required for the cowboy trio. I thought it was a perfect match.
What do you like most about performing?
There is no thrill quite like performing for an audience. The combination of nerves, excitement, and fulfillment knowing you’ve brought a little bit of joy to someone’s life. I mean, who could ask for anything more?
Who in the acting community inspires you the most?
At this moment, I’m incredibly inspired by my “Crazy for You” cast-mates. Everyday I see the lengths they go to in order to make this a great show and excel in their craft. It takes courage to be a performer and I’m humbled to be surrounded by this caliber of talent and dedication.
What do you do when you are not on stage?
While I enjoy being a lazy cowboy by night, by day, I am a Prosecuting Attorney for the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. In that role, the courtroom is my stage and the jury is my audience. While the “thrill” is very different from being on the actual stage, I feel very privileged to get to play a role in making our community a safe place we’re proud to call home.

Welcome SDMT’s new Production Manager!

Ron Christopher Jones, was born and raised in San Diego, Ca. It was in San Diego that Ron got his start in musical theatre, so you can say he is a by product of “San Diego Musical Theatre”. Ron has been a professional Stage and Film actor, for over 25 years. He is the 2018 winner of Best Actor and Best Fight Choreographer, as well as the 2016 winner of Best Supporting Actor, at the San Diego Film Awards. San Diego Musical Theatre audiences may remember Ron as Horse, in SDMT’s 2018 production of The Full Monty. Favorite shows he has been in include, Play On! At the Pasadena Playhouse, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, at the Old Globe Theatre, Ain’t Mis Behavin’, My One and Only, and Man of La Mancha to name a few.
Over the last year Ron has worked behind the scenes for SDMT on the productions of Hairspray and Young Frankenstein, and was hired to come in as Director to complete Miracle On 34th Street. It is Ron’s 30 + years of experience in musical theatre and acting, as well as his overall understanding of the creative and production process, that makes him a great fit as Production Manager of SDMT.
“ I look forward to creating artistic integrity, and lasting friendships, in all aspects of production as well as maintaining the high standards that San Diego has come to know in SDMT productions.”
Ron is married to Marylynn Jones, and they have a beautiful 3 1/2 year old daughter, Maisie.
