Harrison Pyatt’s Pitches 2 Hit Win Over Long Beach State

Willauer_-Contributing Writer-Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018-The Diamond-Lake Elsinore, CA: The San Diego State Aztec baseball team are currently riding a 3 game win streak after a 2 hard fought defeats vs. New Mexico but won the key game on Saturday, March 31st by a key 3-2 score along with a Monday night 6-4 win over the Huskies of the University of Washington at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Today was a different ballgame as the Aztecs scored 3 early run on a 2 rbi single by designated hitter Dean Nevarez scoring David Hensley and Jordan Vernon along with 2 runs in the 6th behind the pitching performance of Harrison Pyatt as he improves his record at 2-2 had a no hitter going until the top of the 8th as Jaren Duran rbi double to rightfield and teammate pinch runner Steven Rivas (who pinch ran for former Rancho Buena Vista Longhorn Brooks Stotler) scored the Dirtbags only run of the contest.
Mark Martinez San Diego State Baseball Head Coach: “Harrison Pyatt found the strike zone well today and was aggressive on the mound, his last outing wasn’t very good, I was happy on his performance and played with mental toughness along with finding his strike zone today, recording 5 strikeouts.
“Dean Nevarez does a good job against lefties as his batting average is .600. Anytime I see left handed pitchers he will get the nod at the plate it is good that he had that RBI in the first.” said Coach Martinez.
Harrison Pyatt went 8 innings gave up 1 hit, 1 run, 1 earned 2 walks, 5 strikeouts for San Diego State at 20-9 and for the Long Beach State at 11-18 Adam Seminez is the loser at 1-4 as he pitched 5 innings gave up 5 hits, 5 runs, 4 earned 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.
