Daniel Thomas–A small fire damaged the balcony of an apartment unit in the Shadowridge Heights Apartments Sunday.

A report of smoke coming from the second floor of a unit came in at approximately 4:04 PM, causing a full response from fire department, along with the Vista Sheriff Department. The first unit to arrive on scene observed smoke on the balcony of the apartment, and was able to extinguish the flames from the outside within ten minutes of arrival.

Additional firefighters entered the apartment, as well as the one adjacent to it. No flames or smoke reached the interior of either unit. The cause of the fire is determined at this time to be a water heater on the balcony one of the units. Additionally, there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
