San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond
Great Things Ahead
I’ve been a San Diego County Supervisor for two months now and have already met some fantastic people in the community.
This past week we passed a fire safety measure, which will bring county resources to the back country, established a night budget hearing, which will allow more voices to be heard and established three revitalization committees for Fallbrook, Valley Center & Borrego Springs!
Check out what else is happening in our district.
In an effort to create more civic engagement and transparency, the Board of Supervisors unanimously passed to have an evening budget hearing.
As it currently stands, budget hearing sessions are scheduled during the morning hours, which is a barrier for many working residents who want the opportunity to voice their input.

Supervisor Dianne Jacob and I teamed up to help communities prepare for the upcoming fire season.
Among the items we outlined:
  • A grant program to encourage homeowners in high-risk areas to install fire-resistant materials.
  • Strengthening building codes for construction.
  • Development of a regional plan for controlled burns.

Women of the Year
Our very own, Juanita Hayes was nominated Women of the Year by Assemblywomen Marie Waldron early this month. Juanita is our Director of Community Relations, but was honored for her outstanding work in the community during a full day in Sacramento!
Super Bloom 🌺
It’s that time of year again! With plenty of rain in our county, the Super Bloom is giving us an even better show than normal this year. We were out in Borrego Springs this week checking out the flowers. Hope you get a chance to visit.
